Whenever I am looking for basic information on fighters of the 8th Air Force I visit Peter Randall's great site Littlefriends.co.uk ("Little Friends" is a nickname of fighters used by bomber crew members).
It contains lists of pilots and aircraft assigned to the relevant fighter groups and an extensive collection of photos which is being updated regularly. In this sense, Littlefrinds.co.uk is an add-on to another well-known site Web-Birds.Com. You can search for pilot's name or aircraft's serial number in the database. Obviously, it's not possible to keep all information accurate (to be honest, I don't know what sources Peter uses) but he is ready to correct it if you approach him:-)
