This piece of news really thrilled me: one of the blog readers let me know there is an authentic footage of U. S. fighters over Prague! I didn't beleive until I watched it but I can confirm it now! The 20-second unique footage has been preserved as a part of an amateur reel of the the Vaclav Cerny's family archive of which a documentary was composed. This was aired in April 2007 within the series entitled Private Century.
The footage starts with a view of smoke coming from houses (see above) in the neighbourhood of the military vehicles plant that was struck by heavy bombers of the 15th Air Force on March 25, 1945.
After that many separate clouds of smoke rising up into the air from destroyed German aircraft parked at the aerodrome Kbely can be clearly seen in the distance. This must have been definitely shot on April 16, 1945 when this area was strafed by fighter of the 8th Air Force. Take a look at the boy sitting on the roof in the foreground who obviously didn't want to miss this "show".
Later on there is a pair of shining Mustangs painted in silver that were flying from the west, most likely of the 4th or 339th Fighter Group whose pilots scored many kills in Kbely. Aircraft subsequently divide. One turns to the left (to north), the other one, which is being panned by the camera, goes on eastwards.
Thanks to Mr. Jan Sikl of the production company of Pragafilm that I can present the images.
